Corey and Sue were both puzzled as they passed the two unconscious and bound ganger types just inside the quarry gate. Inching towards the edge of the quarry pit, they surveyed the state of the battle below them. By all evidence, the bikers had won. They were dismounted, their bikes in a few scattered groups. There was a grey Talon knocked out of commission, and a red sports car was being towed by several bikes towards the center of the activity. Zooming in with a monocular, Corey spotted a woman, bound and staked to the ground. Near her was what they could only presume to be her partner. He was talking to a man from a third vehicle, but judging by the sagging body language of the partner and the swagger of the man from the third vehicle, it was clear they were not friends. Some hoots from the pit echoed against the walls—evidently, the bikers had spotted something in the sports car they were savagely excited about.

Sue spoke her mind first. “Corey, they’re dead meat as soon as we make our move. We can’t get them all out on our own. Even if they can’t help, we need to try to free them.”

“Agreed,” Corey said. “Drop me off, then get up the road.”

“Not this time, Corey. By the time you get up, they’ll be blasting you to pieces.”

“Have a better idea?”

“Yeah, I do. This time, you drop me off…”
